Tarek Rouchdy

Over 45 years of experience in the Banking industry both as an accountant and as an internal auditor. During which, projects covered:

  1. Participated in the EBRD’s ‘Sarbanes Oxley’ exercise and member of the project Steering Committee. Responsible for ensuring that Risk Management Department reviewed the implementation of the year long project.
  2. Participated in EBRD’s Operational Risk Management Group (Basel II component) ensuring that all operational risks were identified, measured and mitigated and all process improvements followed up on and implemented.
  3. Lead all Fraud and compliance tasks/investigations for the EBRD between 1991-2001 until the formation of the Bank’s Office of the Chief Compliance Officer. Investigations covered operations of the Bank in Central and Eastern Europe.
  4. Lead the audit of the Bank’s 12 Private Equity Funds in the Russian Federation for over 4 years.
  5. As CFO of the Central Bank of Egypt, introduced a number of new and improved processes during tenure covering procurement, expense operations, budgeting and corporate planning and strategy.
  6. Carried out and participated in several Quality Assessments of internal audit functions of major financial institutions in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors’ Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing as follows: European Investment Bank (twice), Asian Development Bank (twice), African Development Bank, National Bank of Greece, Central Bank of Belarus (latter as part of an IMF Safeguards Assessment Mission).
  7. Technical Assistant to the Independent Investigative Panel of the UNDP in relation to UNDP/UN Operations in North Korea.
